Five Minute Friday- KEEP

Five Minute Friday- Linking up with my sisters hosted by Kate Motaung.  A time to let go of edits and specifics and let the words flow.  Each Friday a new writing prompt is given and the timer is set.  Ready…

Keep, the word for today’s Five Minute Friday.  My first thought?  This week I have struggled to simply keep up.  It has been one of those weeks that has passed quickly but held some very long hours.  Have you had one of those before?

From sleepless nights with a little guy fighting an ear infection, to a busy daddy, to simply wanting things that seem outside my reach.  It has been real.  Real difficult to keep my thoughts fixed on things above.  Difficult to keep myself from the pity party afternoons.  A struggle to keep from zoning out, and not being all in for my family.  Am I the only one?

As I sit down for what seems the FIRST moment of solitude this week, I find I am holding my breath.  I know it’s not going to last long.  It’s just not been that type of week.  So, what will I choose to do in these next few moments that will help me keep my perspective clear when it’s time to be on again?

As I rocked my lil’ man for his nap this afternoon and prayed he would sleep in his bed so I could have a few moments to myself, I read the verse above his crib over and over…

He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.  Jeremiah 40:11

This week, this tiring week that I am slightly relieved to see come to a close, my shepherd has kept me.  He has carried me close to His heart.  He has gently lead me through parenting paths and given me wisdom to care for our lil’ guy.  He has kept me this week and will forevermore.
